LEAD Albania Alumni event on Cultural Heritage

LEAD Albania Alumni, the Albanian-American Foundation (AADF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, organized on June 4, 2016, at the National Museum of Photography “MARUBI” in Shkodra, the conference “’CULTURE HERITAGE – A TOOL FOR DEVELOPMENT’, ‘Revitalization of Historical Centers and the Impact in the Sustainable Social and Economic Development’, ‘Public – Private Partnership in Cultural Heritage’”. Attending the event were Mr. Michael Granoff, Chairman of the Board at AADF, Ms. Mirela Kumbaro, Minister of Culture, Ms. Romana Vlahutin, Head of the EU Delegation in Albania, Ms. Voltana Ademi, Mayor of Shkodra, participants of the “LEAD Albania 2016,” friends of the program, as well as experts in the field of cultural heritage.

The event focused on the revitalization of historic centers and the impact on sustainable economic development and social and public-private partnerships in cultural heritage. Ms. Kumbaro, Mr. Granoff and Ms. Vlahutin supported the idea that culture and cultural heritage cannot be subjects only to visits and entertainment, but can be a source of economic development. The Mayor of Shkodra, Ms. Voltana Ademi emphasized the important role of Shkodra as a city with cultural traditions and the significance of continuing such partnerships.

Alumni members and LEAD Albania Fellows moderated the activity and addressed various issues related to the topic of viewing cultural heritage as a tool for development. The LEAD Albania Program is an AADF initiative for the development of leadership in Albania.
