Marubi, the National Museum of Photography Opens its Doors to the Public

The Marubi National Museum of Photography opened its doors to the public after the completion of reconstruction. An important cultural asset, the museum preserves and promotes unique values of Albanian cultural and historical heritage.

AADF joined the Ministry of Culture, Municipality of Shkodra and the Albanian Development Fund in financing this project with a contribution of $650,000. The new building was renovated and now includes new services for visitors and a capacity-building component which will help the museum to be sustainable as an independent institution with a strategic relevance in a regional context.

The AADF Co-CEOs, Mr. Aleksander Sarapuli and Mr. Martin Mata were among the many guests attending the inauguration ceremony hosted by the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro. Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi along with representatives of the Diplomatic Corps in Albania were also present.

Mr. Mata thanked all the partners for their collaboration and highlighted the importance of the second phase of this project which will focus on the development of an education program within the museum. “The private public partnership is an important path to be taken because it will help the museum to grow as a sustainable vital center, which produces knowledge and shares values.”
